Beta Bug Thread

Postby Erich » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:00 pm

Bugs:
-Lots of items appear on the ground as Acid Arrows when they were dropped off-screen
-Two handed melee weapons do less Damage Per Second (DPS) than a single 1-handed weapon
-Dual wielding two 10handed melee weapons does less DPS than a single 1-handed weapon
-Warriors can use Spin to hit everything on their screen while using Thrown weapons, even though it is a melee spin

Ideas:
-Fury's lifesteal is very powerful.. maybe too powerful
-T3 (third room) mobs in the Troll Fortress are very, very tough (they 1-hit Claymore who was level 20) - perhaps separate them from T2 (the second room) by a longer hallway or a pit so they don't accidentally get drawn into the T2 area? One T3 troll wiped our group of 4 people that I was showing around

Fixed:
-Dual wielding two 1-handed melee weapons does less DPS than a single 1-handed weapon

Rest are known and will be fixed.

Don't get me started on the T3 troll area. I do agree that it should be separated or at least have the floor tiles a different color so you know that these trolls are the T3.

The server (or maybe just the map) can only handle one trans at a time, so if somebody is being trans happy on the sq, and your trying to tele away from a monster, your screwed. Discovered this after I racked up four death penalties. Irritating bug.

Fixed in design doc; next update will include this fix.

So...yeah. About that. I checked on them in the editor, and it turns out they were actually set to level 100 or so. I've moved them back to where they should be for the next update.

I'm not sure what you mean by this--it should definitely allow multiple people to be casting teleport spells at once. If not that is a huge problem...anyone want to help me test this next time I'm on?

Bugs/Glitches
- Trans Wands don't always work while falling down a cliff. *But sometimes they do* (Got Exp Penalty testing that out =P)
- The Secret Skeletons in the Catacombs appear as if they should be holding weapons but they actually are not.
- The Tunnel leading out of the Secret Skeletons to the Skeletons Mages is very hard to survive since mages are attacking you and you can't see them.
- One more decent one to add but not enough time to explain.. gotta go to Political Science 118....

Yeah Transing is definitely gliched somewhere, has cost me about 20 grand in exp penalties today. I'm going to try and describe it the best that I can.

When I cast the spell my cursor switches to wand and then when I click I don't port. Everything else on the screen is moving just fine, but I can't log out or do anything else but click with my wand until I die. This only happens when I'm transing so as far as I can tell it is not lag. Mostly happens when I'm on the same map as the main town, but it's been happening more and more frequently in Ancient Land Map, I don't think it has ever happened to me in Troll Cave map (the one by main town, after the portal.)

Oh and if it happens when I'm not hunting it lasts only a few seconds.

Morn, when the behavior you describe occurs, are you able to use STOP ACTION command (I believe this is right-click with spells) to get un-frozen?

I don't believe so, but I haven't specifically tested that, I'll update this post when I know for sure.

Confirmed. It seems like they work...but only sometimes and I haven't figured out what that sometimes is. You can trans into a pit using a wand, and out of one using a wand--but you can't trans from place to place in a pit using one. Sometimes. I'll figure it out asap and get back to you.

The bug where the game just randomly crashes is still there. I crashed over a pit and got a 11k penalty.
Also, while defending/reclaiming the Sentio, and red(forgot name) geosid, I lost alignment, and went neutral. I was in the safety circle the whole time, as were my targets. The alignment bar also shows neutral as being off the menu to the far right.

After testing the trans on square with you, my transing has froze a couple times since then, I'm willing to believe it's just a flaw with me playing on a laptop. If you don't get any other complaints about this, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

* Gain EXP for kills on square. This is a problem (farming monsters on squares without guards)
* Monster pathfinding is better than ever, but: monsters will sometimes get stuck on a boundary and keep walking it: I've seen dogs trace the walls of a dungeon, and a crawler walk in circles around a tree.

I can still accumulate working exp and level up even if I have an exp penalty. I dunno if the penalty is just supposed to reduce the amount of exp I recieve or have some other effect, but I've gain 2 levels while maintaining enough deaths to keep my penalty in excess of 50 grand.

Karl, do you want us to use the :!: symbol so you can easily find reported gliches, or have you been entering those yourself so you have a way of marking ones you noted? Or was that not you at all? lol

I think that exp on square is just fine as long as the places are like the ancient land safe place, it's a pretty decent exp for a few levels but it gets old really fast and there are way better places for exp. If your character can't level up anywhere else, then you can't explore, can't pvp, the character you made needs to be scrapped and revamped, or you need to regear.

Plus on the levels that it's good exp, you need to leave the square a few times to gather enemies to make it really worth it. This gives plenty of chance to die.

If you use :!: they are definitely easier to find, but no that wasn't me adding them.

The EXP penalty reduces the rate at which you gain exp by half. 50% goes to pay the penalty, 50% goes to your normal exp.

Crawlers and stuff get stuck in circles when they can't find you =p

I agree with Morn that getting EXP on the square should be ok. However, get it while you can because I'll probably be adding a town guard to the ancient land's square and he'll kill-steal anything in sight =p

:!: Nice work hiding the true potential of the Hunter spell Spreadshot, deals weapon damage to the skeleton, but when I hit a monster/player with it = 300+ damage(Before I got the holy crossbow), maybe its a bug?

Issue: Items in hidden rooms show up even when you can't see the room, which can give secrets away pretty easily.

Running the game in windowed mode no longer prevents the crash bug from locking the entire computer up.

When everybody was hanging out in one square I had some huge trans lag, seemed specifically when people were attacking skeleton. Probably no surprise there but I think it might be something to test to see if we can get 3 or for people attacking skeleton if it stops people from being able to trans.

Idea- When Dmg shows up after attacking skeleton it spams the chat list. It makes following a conversation kind of hard if your using the Box. If it could be prevented from showing up in the box that would be great. There is no where on the square or even in the town that you can get away from the spam text.

Tested it again, definite trans fail when a lot of people are on sq, either to do with the skeleton or the geosids

The crashing is really bad now, it happens (without exaggeration) about 30seconds to 1 minute after every log in, the game has become almost impossible to play. =(
