Game Mechanics: Leveling

Leveling should be a sharply increasing graph, just like in xenimus. However, the humps in XP should be more predictable and smooth than in xenimus. (graph the jumps of xenimus, there are seveal abrubt changes in slope)
I think the jump between 7 and 8 is like double or something crazy. It might make sense to make each level cost... uhm this is hard to say.
Level 1: base
Level 2: LastJump+50%
Level 3: LastJump+47%
Level 4: Lastjump+45%

You see where I am coming from? Because the jumps are getting bigger, the percentange needs to slowly retract in order to prevent true exponential leveling jumps.

Just a little test:

Level 1: 200 XP : Jump = 200
Level 2: 500 XP (200 + 200(Last Jump) + 100(50% of Last Jump)) : Jump = 300
Level 3: 941 XP (500 + 300 + 141) : Jump = 441
Level 4: 1580 XP (941 + 441 + 198) : Jump = 639
Level 5: 2494 (1580 + 639 + 275) : Jump = 914
Level 6: 3783 (2494 + 914 + 375) : Jump = 1289

looks pretty good. We can round off of course. The first few levels will be very easy, but thats how its supposed to be. It should start getting tough in the teens.

So leveling is overall easier. ALOT easier. I guess this + new XP loss rules and tighter, more restricted XP gain, we could make it work.
Or maybe we have to tweak it some.

Theres a problem though, it take around same exp to do 48-49 than it does 34-35

I think the 0.5% is neat. because it makes the 30s the highest levels that most people will be able to get.
Ultimatly, its up to Karl. But I think my formula is pretty good.

I'd like to see some NPC's that take a long time to kill but give good exp.
Like I never understood why the arachnid queen is so hard but gives barely any exp. She should give like 1-2 mil exp in xenimus.

There are various different progressions for experience. EJ's doesn't really follow any path (it's closest to an exponential regression) but it is just made up. The other thing you need to do is consider how much experience various monsters will give.

It's really hard to say I mean as long as it goes up, you the numbers dont matter as much as the form:

1) Linear: experience = m(level) + b
m and b are constants
2) Exponential: experience = C*level^a+b
where C, a and b are constants
3) Quadratic: experience = a*level^2 + b*level + c
a, b, c are constants
4) Power: experience C*a^level + b
a, b, and c are constants

I think the formula I came up with shows promise. We just need to decide what the decreasing percentage is.
