Begin Textures

Postby ziggman » Fri Jun 22, 2007 2:05 am

Let me know what u think if you like certain colors. i WILL BE adding more when i get the chance. i know i invert colors alot, makes it look really different with most. im not sure where exactly to put these or where they would look good, im just doing textures at the moment.
Bricks, more grass, Dirt, ect. still to come in 2-3 days

The blended black/white mask would be good for creating blended textures (like grass/dirt areas) is that what you're going for? Anyway its sweet.

The flowers look pretty neat--but we won't know how they are in-game for sure until you try! So go ahead and replace some of the textures in PV with 'em and lets see what happens. Remember you can always overwrite your changes by unzipping the media file again.

Looks good!

the dirt is still pretty light...can you add "depth" to the color? By that I mean make it less pale and more rich brown?

Yes I agree with Karl, Same thing for all the other colors, they are too pastelish... colors need to be darkers and richer... we are creating a world filled with monsters and adventures... not an easter egg basket :P

im doing what i can with what i have =\ ill try to get a better program to play with. i do know they are light in color but i have only found good looking textures in llight brown/greys, inverting colors makes them steel blue.

for editing pictures and images I use the program called GIMP 2.0... on this program it has an option where you can adjust color balances in 3 levels (Shadows, Midtones, Highlights) You might not like it but.. I enjoy using it... its pretty easy to use..

Ok, This is this is what I got using Zigg's skin but tinkering with color the color balances and using the colorize tools on GIMP 2.0

Ziggman--you should download the latest version of the editor. You're using the first version, which causes black to be a transparent color on every texture :)

It will make everything look much better, trust me.

Also....what version of windows are you using? 98? lol

I agree, With the grass, you want to go with a little deeper green, not so much olive, maybe a little closer to forest green

if you guys still dont like.. dont be harsh, its very time consuming and not easy to make one of a kind patterns that line up correctly. i personaly think these look pretty good aside from the white line in the grass lol.

Hey Zigg--have you tried using GiIMP? It's a free image-editing utility that works really well!

i tried to download gimp, but for some reason when i clicked on the download button i gotta bunch of pop-ups and ended up installing some kind of pop-up blocker (unintentionaly), wich acctually increased the ammout of popups i recieved...
i also tried to install paint.net but that requires some special version of windows2k or higher to run (not mine)
the program im using now has lots of special features i have not figured out how to use, im sure its more than adeqate for what i need.

are my skins not good enough? I feel im gettin alot negative responses, however it looks like I am the only one submitting any new skins.... =\

my name is David btw :)
