2.10 - coming soon to an intertube near you

Postby Karl G. » Mon Mar 30, 2009 3:13 pm

I'm going to hold off on the Bazaar for this update. It's a lot more complex than I can do in 3 days if it's going to be done right (and I want to only have to do it once!)

Instead, I'm working toward fixing bugs, tying up loose ends, adding new map to explore and more monsters.

On a side note, I'm sorry the server's still down :/

Just to make u remember smaller things!

While we're submitting requests, a spell to locate a dead body would be *really* helpful (maybe just make it a function of the Geosid--at a cost of x genite you get a pointer for 5 minutes, or something like that). I've lost 2-3 bejewled rings in monstrosities simply because I couldn't find where I had died--the place is huge and it all looks the same!

i actually found the "looking" for your gear quite cool, it takes time people can steal etc and you get all hasty and might even die again hah :D
though only an idiot dies

The search does make things interesting, but at Monstrosities it's almost futile: I even thought I knew exactly where I had died, but I couldn't for the life of me find the stack. And this has happened several times.

Do monsters pick up items? That would explain why I've been having this trouble.

The trolls did that before, dunno if it was intended, i've never lost my gear withouth finding it again though, just takes some time and cordination according to memory.

Avoiding death should be easier come 2.10 :) I'm not averse to a tracking spell, though, so tell me what you think after this update.

Speaking of...

2.10 will be released TODAY! Probably late this evening, after dinner (fajitas = yum!). The map has doubled in size, and the whole northern area is filled with some killer monsters. All I want to do before updating is fill out the underground area a bit more (by adding some stuff to do down there!) and maybe tackle a few easy bugs.

Sweet!

It's not *avoiding* death that's the problem--the game is sufficiently challenging (although damage might be a bit low)--but finding the body is just too damn difficult in large and monotonous areas. So a tracking function (as I suggested might be attached to the Geosids) would be helpful.

Looking forward to exploring the new map!
