Stalked?

Well one of the first things i noticed about being lvl 10 was that when running through the forest the animals would actually stalk you eventhough you where about 2 screens away from them, and they would always would find you.

Suggesting that when a player has left the screen of the monster and like 30 yards, then the monster might give up? or else some one might just pull an entire room at once?
