a stop action key

ok i like the ideal to be able to gas in the game.but there is only 1 problem
that i have found.and that is when you are in gas and you get into a bunch of
monsters you can't come out of gas.so how about a stop action key or
the monsters not be able to hit you while you are in gas. maybe this
issue has already been posted or brought up.i didnt see anything about it
but some times i can't see for looking. just wanted to throw this out
there.
