I cant play because the launcher wont download any updates because apparently the folder is set to read only. I go and set the folder off of read only and it still doesn't work.

I believe that if you turn off UAC it will stop having this problem.

If you don't want to mess with that, you can download the updated installer over here:

If you're working from a version several removes from the current one, it might be best to download the installer--I'm not sure if the older versions can be updated through the launcher.

ok here is the easy way to do this and you dont have to change anything.
first of all if you downloaded the game to program files then i will
help you get it to work.
if you are just downloading the game load it to c drive.
ok first open computer
then open c drive then open program files
look for the evidyon file.
ok next dont close anything
open computer again and open c drive.
now you should have the previous program files open and c drive open
now drag evidyon file from program files to c drive. this will fix the problem
now to create a shortcut. open the evidyon file and the first evidyon
that you see right click on it and click create shortcut to desktop.
if you are still having problems just send me a message here and i will help you.

Put the Evidyon file out of program files and into your detskop, you are doing this cause evidyon doesnt have the authorities to alter files stored in c.\programfiles on vista.

This works cause i did the same on my dads vista computer.

If you have a USB drive, you can copy the game to that drive and run "launcher.exe" there. It should work perfectly.

That worked as well, I just moved the folder on my desktop and that worked.

Like source says, Vista blocks some programs cause it is a more "cautious" system, and the programfiles are where everything installed is stored, which is why it is under some kind of "Force" like protection, what i did when i used my dads puter was like source, moving the file to an alternative place where the nettwork would find it easily and it could not be blocked by some file and the problem fixed itself.

Btw the graphic issues with things floating around with Vista is just some fail microsoft poo, no worries game works good anyway.

I did some research and Microsoft apparently has a way you can interface with Vista to override its security settings when you install a game. It seems a bit complicated though (you have to do some crazy stuff in the install program) so it will probably have to wait. For now, the best bet looks like installing it to My Documents or something stupid like that :/
