Patch Error

Haven't found a post about this so ill just dump it here! (sorry if its wrong section)

This shows up when I try to launch (launcher.exe)

ERROR! Unable to download updates at this time. If you are running Vista, this could be due to the permissions for the directory in which Evidyon is installed being set to read-only.

But I can still run the game and play when I use the evidyon.exe

sounds a bit wierd since I got all my games under programs etc, and I haven't had a problem like this.

I'm assuming that you are indeed running Vista?

The permissions are tricky with Vista, and don't yet play nice with Evidyon (this will be included in a bug-fixing update in the next couple weeks, which should also fix the weird Vista graphics bug--the reason all the models are messed up).

The easiest way to fix this is to move the game directory to your desktop or documents folder or some such. You can also mess with the folder permissions if you like, but it's weird; I got mine to work more out of blind luck than anything else.

Hehe, yeah I run vista. But I got a computer with windows XP so im gonna test it there and see how it goes!

Try putting your Evidyon file from programfiles to your desktop and run Evidyon.

Great! Glad to hear you got it working. I apologize to all the Vista users out there--in its attempts to be virus-proof, it's also made itself more developer-proof O.o
