I'm starting to miss the old community...

Postby Richard. UK » Tue May 19, 2009 3:27 pm

I don't know if it is just me but most people in the community right now are more interested in shaping and moulding the game into their mountain of greed,

I'm disgusted at bug abuse and lack of support for Karl when he logs on.

Think in future before your greed takes you away...

Enough from me,

you are being a dramaqueen, if you are aiming at me i am simply reminding karl, most everything ive said has been in OLD xen, or are new ideas, like
Vis putesco.

just cause you dont like the ideas doesnt mean ill force them on you, just simply ignore them if you dont like them, greed is abusing bugs and trying 2 keep it a secret like almost every one seems to be doing.

I read your ideas they seem to be more "just copy xen now" than the old xen. alot of your ideas especially the props and stats seem more like the new xen than the oldschool xen.

was looking for the props xen had in pictures cause i couldent remember them bymyself so i copied some pictures.
when you say copy i say remembering.
i hate the current state of Xen, the updated version good vs evil, new races which look like kareem abdul jabar(though he owns)

what i meant though with that post, was that we could not have properties that were random f. example a player found the one and only axe with 3000% attack speed.(crazy example)
i meant that if you were going to be a good player skilled one it would require some thinking to achieve certain stats and certain weapons and then think how to use them to get the most out of them, not just farm sick items and put everything on Strength, such as the game is now.

Karl will fine tune the stats and item balance when he gets to it, theres loads of other stuff that needs doing first and people who have gone an tanked nothin but strength will find themselves with lvl 40s with awful builds unable to keep up with other people there lvl.

yeah i know that, it is just that i dont want some overpowered properties for certain items, or that a player can have 10k more health than another player and still do equal dmg cause he found some epic item nonsense.

You get i mean right? i just want the game to work Hardcore, skills over gear, gear just being a powerupp.

I think having good items is a pretty good thing in games, it adds to the whole "looking for gear" ROUTINE lol, and its not like finding gear is easier for other people.. It's all equal, you just have to put some time and thought into it.

But there NEEDS to be rare items in game to make it feel like Xen, Hell most of the time when I was playing Xen, I was PVPing, and the only reason I (personally) PVP is for the drops, and if gear isn't rare and it's all just basic.. What's the point?

Plus++ It gives people a reason to get to a higher level.. Just to be able to find awesome stuff, and improve your char.

of course i want the omni swords, spirit swords, arcane, diabolic, dirus, oreseth, gladius RARE items.

What i am saying is, a player though needs to spec smart to become strong, then if he wants to become even stronger then gear will powerhim up by giving his base health/mp/dmg a boost.

The discussion started with:

Karl wrote to me that people were getting DMG each level and it would not matter if the player specced STR or INTEL or didnt get a new wep, a level would give him dmg.
so i said "why not make it so that if a player wants damage he puts a stat point on dmg, and uses his brain to stat"

why i said this was simply because, you heard the stories about lvl 20's killing lvl 40's, but if a lvl 40 had double the dmg of a lvl 20 the skill battles would cease to exist.

And i wrote my opinion about wether an item should be so good that a sucky player can beat a good player just based on item strength which is random, that would not be fair would it now?

Example: you are a low level at 15, some one drops a weapon equivalent of diabolic gear, you pick it up and then go on a rampage killing people 20 levels higher than you just because you have a random wep.

What i think i am hearing you guys say is that power will be based on random dropping items, so "Random" people will be best ingame.
What then will happen with people who overthrow high levels like on xen, stealing omni, sun staffs etc? they will cease to exist cause their skill will mean nothing against gear.

BUT XEN really was about finding gear, and of course a good weapon should boost your dmg alot, but im just saying a skilled player should still be able to take down such equipped enemy.

if you dont understand what im writing ill simply just talk to karl or Joe whom seem to understand what i mean.

I think you are missing the point that items will have level requirements at some stage?

so regardless of if a "noob" picked up a high level weapon, he could simply not use it until he was high enough level. Or he could sell it, bringing a wave of enconomy to the game using the bazaar. The noob would simply be a "thief" but benefiting himself with mountains of gold to buy himself items for his level.

So I honestly think the point you are making is far to soon at this stage in the developments.

These considerations are in the pipelines I am presuming.

karl aint a fan of requirements sonny:)

anyway, i have just implemented ideas and old stuff from xen, when me and karl used to go around killing people on xen i could still kill people on mm3 which was uberly lame stated by some dude who gave it to me we're talking 25 strength on a warlock!, after a while i became a notorious pk'r and then got banned, if i was just a silly kid, i dont think mm3 would never seen the light of day.

But yeah i am like you, id like requirements, but since ive probably been here quite a while now and have had quite a few talks with karl you are just pretty much bringing up arguements i said to him actually, like the "Requirements on gear".

lets just chillax and see how the game ends up, karl is already doing a great job.

Actually, the new item set we're working on will include both level and stat requirements. And "epic"/"legendary"/extra-rare/whatever-the-####-you-want-to-call-them items! But don't worry Marz, the concern you articulate is very much on our mind--we aren't making the game entirely dependent upon items, although they will be important. More info later: I'm working on a long post to give more complete information about the item set and development in general, which I'll probably put up tomorrow.
