Hm. Still think it's too slow though. It really doesn't have to be *much* of a warning. :)

From a story perspective, something like that, yes. From a gameplay perspective, it's nice to avoid having monsters materialize out of nowhere. Even if it's just a brief flash, it's better than having them simply appear. Partly this serves as a warning, but mostly it just looks better, smooths things out.

So "Chaos manifests" in the form of Trolls at certain geometric positions, i kinda like it :D

o0o someone's been reading the storyline 8)

The mini-update coming out tonight is closer to no warning: time's been reduced to 0.5 seconds.

I get it downloaded and installed. When I try to run the program It opens up and in the box I get this message;

Contacting update server...
--
Downloading evidyon.exe - 659 KB
ERROR! Unable to download updates at this time. If you are running Vista, this could be due to the permissions for the directory in which Evidyon is installed being set to read-only.

If you are indeed running vista my friend, take the Evidyon file out of programfiles and place it at your detskop, this works, did for me anyway, seems vista is blocking certain .exe from connecting to internett cause thats what a password sniffer usually does.

Tried and failed. I opened up the properties on it and the read-only box is not checked either...

i had the same problem... here's what i did:

1. right-click the evidyon folder and go to properties
2. go to the security tab and click edit...
3. select your user account and give it full control
4. do the same for the administrator account
5. run evidyon

Thanks for posting your hints to get it working... would one of you mind making a summary post on all the things that might get Evidyon to work on Vista? I'll sticky it for future reference and you'll have fame/fortune/etc forever :)

You might try (if you dare) turning off UAC.

Try just going into the C:\Program Files\Evidyon directory and running "evidyon.exe" (instead of "launcher.exe"). If the game connects OK, that will tell us something.

Tried what Karl said and it worked. But I go in and try to create an account and it just sits there saying creating account.

Yeah that means you've got the wrong version... I guess Karl gonna have to send you the right one himself, as the launcher download doesn't work for you.

When i try to download the .exe it gives me some type of installation error.

When I try to download the .gme it ways something about windows does not reconize this type of file...either save it to the computer or find a program.

you need to overwrite the copies of "evidyon.exe" and "evidyon.gme" on your computer, wherever you installed Evidyon (or ended up copying it to)

Unfortunately, the server went down this morning, so you'll have to wait until it comes back up to test.

Since the server already is down what about just mini updating at the same time? saves you some time later.
