how come sometimes f doesnt work? i hit it 20 times on my map and still nothing.

What isn't it working on? Grass or dirt?
If you painted grass or dirt with anything other than the palette grass/dirt, it won't randomize.

You have to "copy" the grass or dirt tile from the palette, then paint it on the ground. If you paint the ground with anything other than this tile (such as grabbing grass from elsewhere on the map, after randomizing everything) it will just paint that tile over and over and it will never randomize.
This is probably something I should fix, come to think of it.
