The Content Situation

Based on your input from the poll and talking to various people, unless EJ responds to my proposal, I am going forward with creating all of our own content. I am hoping that this community can create all of the static models for the game, and that we can purchase the animated ones from a contractor. Out of the dozen or so that have contacted me, none have followed through with their promises of example meshes and I don't want to work with someone who I have to chase around to get anything from, especially if they're being paid. I am going to try two more modelers and hopefully be able to get some cheap, low-poly animated character models from them. We need some basic content at this point so here's what we need to get this game started!

Guidelines
When you create content, post it on this forum with "[Type] - Name" as the subject. For example "[Texture] - Stones", "[Model] - Tree"

Textures
All textures should use PURE BLACK (RGB: 0,0,0) as their transparent color). These textures should be able to replace the Xenimus textures. To test how they look in the game, save over copies in Xenimus and play the game or use the map editor. Don't bother replacing character textures, as they won't be used. Don't bother replacing the "tx#" textures. They weren't in the original xenimus and when we need the extension we can make our own.

replacement textures

I replaced most of the textures in xenimus long ago, the grass, dirt, tree, plant textures are all custom that i took with my digital camera. So they could be used if anyone likes them. Textures files replaced for them are: dirtover, grassdirt, mdmt1, plants, maybe a cpl other are custom content as well.

i think the grass looks weird but its pretty kool.

That grass looks like it's more suited to a forest area. I kinda like it.

I'll include in next edition of the map maker. I might modify the grass, though--is that ok?

Yeah i'll email em to ya, I just need to edit a couple of them first. Should send them out in a day or 2. Modify the grass all you want.

Could i take pictures of grass and "afganastanimation" it to look more xen gamish? then take it through photo shop so it would look like game grass but more real?
