Long answer:
The game will be finished when it's finished. Right now Karl's working on a scripting system that will allow everybody to participate in the game development process by giving them direct access to the game as a sandbox. With that in place, it will free Karl up to work on the more difficult aspects of the code while anybody who cares to can work to develop content, and development will proceed at a much quicker pace.
