If everyone gets an invite, then what is the purpose of making it invitation only? Why not just have a download link to make it easier.

Everybody gets an invite because we don't need to be selective at the moment. The system was put in place just in case we needed to use it. I could give you a long explanation about the proprieties of the Alpha/Beta distinction and why it matters to have a closed Alpha, but I'd probably just bore you.

We're headed into Beta in a few weeks anyway, for which the forums and website will be overhauled and the game be made officially public.
