Hey Marine,

The server has been up all night, so I think Vista might be blocking this application. Try running in windowed mode (go to Start>Programs>Evidyon>"Change Display Mode", set "Fullscreen=0" and save, then run the game) and clicking "allow" on the firewall warning window that comes up.

I had a very similar problem a few months ago. The problem for me was the User Account Control; once I turned it off the problem went away.
So if you have it turned on, turn it off and then try running Evidyon.

If you don't know how to turn UAC off:
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Find the "User Accounts" screen. To do this:
......(a) in the standard Vista interface, click "User Accounts and Family Safety", then "User Accounts";
......(b) in the "Classic View", click "User Accounts".
3. Click the link at the bottom labeled "Turn User Account Control on or off."
4. Uncheck the box and click "OK".

What says that, notepad?

The file might be set to "read-only". I think Vista has a problem with this.

To fix that, go into the C:\Program Files\Evidyon directory, right-click on "config.ini" and select "properties". Then clear the read-only flag.

Weird. I had a problem like that when I turned UAC back on. My computer was working fine for months without it, and then one day with it and Vista ate my user account: erased all my settings, moved all my files, &c. Had to create a new account and copy everything over. It was ugly.

Lesson: Vista sucks.

Though I hear W7 is going to be better.
